Guardians news: Josh Naylor sets MLB record in Cleveland's improbable victory over White Sox's

Josh Naylor and the Cleveland Guardians entered Monday night game at .500 on the season, Just a 1/2 game behind their opponent, the White Sox's' for second place in the American Central League.




A Historical night indeed on the SouthSide of Chicago. Trailing 4-1 after the first inning. The Guardians would enter the eighth inning down by a 5-1 margin, and by the ninth inning were down 8-2. Tonight was just not their night. But magically by the 9th ending, it would be a tied BALL GAME. Thanks to 24 year old Josh Naylor, who hit a grand slam to tie the game.


Reyes on the legendary play. “That was very impressive,” Reyes said. “Nothing surprises me with what he can do with a bat. That was a legendary moment.”

Talk about a GAME CHANGER, Naylor would go on to ice the game with a three-run shot to take the lead in the 11th inning. Becoming the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit two home runs worth at least three runs apiece in the ninth inning or later of a single game.


The Cleveland Guardians would go on to pick up their 15th win of the season after defeating the Chicago White Sox 12-9 in the 11 innings.

“I’m ready for every challenge,” Naylor said. “We’re all ready for every challenge on this team. It doesn’t matter who’s on the mound. It doesn’t matter if it’s Nolan Ryan, we’re ready for it.”
