Denver Broncos star quarterback Russell Wilson looks healthy and in shape at OTAs says head coach Sean Payton. The 12-year veteran reportedly lost weight this offseason, and is hoping to have a better season this year. Wilson is confident that his team can make a deep playoff run and is determined to lead them to a championship.

Payton is making sure to put all the right weapons around his star quarterback while Wilson is embracing the challenge and is determined to do whatever it takes to make his team successful. The Broncos' running back department took a big hit this week. In less than a week, the franchise has cut three running backs. Jacques Patrick, Tyreik McAllister and Damarea Crockett. The Broncos now have only five running backs on the 90-man offseason roster.

Javonte Williams

Samaje Perine

Tony Jones

Tyler Badi

Jaleel McLaughlin

So why did the Broncos cut three talented running backs?

Javonte Williams (knee) continues to improve and practices limitedly. Samaje Perine has shown the ability to be a capable backup and special teams contributor. In addition, Jones and Badi or McLaughlin could provide Denver with a reliable third option.

Aside from that, the Minnesota Vikings have released running back Dalvin Cook and the Broncos have been monitoring the situation for weeks according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. During his six seasons with the Vikings, Cook ran for 7,787 yards from scrimmage and scored 52 touchdowns.

X-Factor G-Dulch

Head coach Sean Payton said Greg Dulchich is equipped with a unique skill set that he possesses traits in the passing game. The second-year Broncos tight end has considerable upside. He has the ability to create mismatches and exploit defenses.

Dulchich is another runner Wilson could use in the open field. He is a trustworthy target for Wilson and is comfortable running routes in the middle of the field. His size is an added advantage as he can easily fight off defenders and get open. Dulchich has the potential to become an X-factor in the Broncos' offense.

Broncos Cap-Space

The Denver Broncos have just over $10.13 million in cap space after saving some substantial cash by designating kicker Brandon McManus for release after June. The franchise saved $3 million in cap space this year by parting ways with McManus and signing Elliott Fry.

Teams are allowed to have only 85 players on their roster during the regular season. As soon as the roster is finalized, we'll know how much cap space the Broncos will have to play with during the season.

Notable Signees

LB Frank Clark

TE Tommy Hudson

WR Nick Williams

The Denver Broncos have signed edge rusher Frank Clark to a 1-year deal. With Baron Browning undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Clark will bring size and experience to the Broncos' pass rush. While there is a possibility that Browning could return by training camp, Clark will be able to provide some insurance in case of an extended absence beyond the start of the regular season.

Tommy Hudson has the ability to block and catch the ball if needed. He can be a reliable target for Wilson and has the agility to make plays in the open field. Colorado native Nick Williams on the other hand is a speedy wide receiver that adds a deep threat to the offense. He is well-rounded and can make plays in the passing game as well as on special teams. Payton scored on two different role players on the offensive side of the ball.

The Broncos start their mandatory minicamp next Tuesday-Thursday and the energy around Mile High is different. Everyone wants to win. Denver has a shot at success this season if they play their cards right.
